Send feedback

One press in the panel sends a note with the recording you were on, and a report that cannot go yet is kept until it can.

The fastest way to show what went wrong is from inside Chippy, on the recording where it happened. Press Feedback in the panel's header, or Feedback from Chippy's menu in the menu bar.

The dialog

There is one box, What happened? Say what you saw or heard, in a sentence. Under it, Include the current recording is ticked, and the line beside it names the recording you were just on. Untick it if the note is not about that read.

You can attach a screenshot, a video, anything up to 25 MB: choose a file, or drop it anywhere on the dialog. Then press Send, or press Command and Return.

What goes

Send uploads your note with the recording's audio, its text, the timing of each word, the app's own log lines for that read, a picture of the panel, and any file you attached. The picture is of the panel alone, never your screen. Before anything leaves, your home folder, your user name and your computer's name are removed from every text file. There is no account and no name on a report: the only identity in it is a random id made once on this Mac.

A report is never lost

When the report goes, the dialog says Sent, with its id. When Chippy cannot reach the feedback server, the dialog says Kept: the report is saved on your Mac and goes on its own as soon as it can. Your reports, in the menu bar menu, lists every report and whether it has gone.

If this Mac downloaded Chippy from your account, a receipt lands at that address, headed Your feedback reached Chippy, with what you wrote and the id it is filed under. A reply, if there is one, comes to the same address.
